Why Newborn Photography Packages Have Different Prices

Why Do My Newborn Photography Packages Have Different Prices?

One of the questions I get asked quite often is:

"Why does the package with siblings cost more than the package with just mum, dad and baby?"

It's a great question, and I completely understand why parents ask.

The simple answer is that photographing a newborn on their own, or with mum and dad, is a very different experience from photographing a newborn together with brothers and sisters. It requires extra planning, different posing techniques, additional safety considerations, and significantly more time during the session.

Every Newborn Session Is Designed Around Baby's Safety

As a professional newborn photographer in Bunbury, my first priority is always your baby's safety and comfort.

A newborn-only session allows me to work at baby's pace, creating those beautiful sleepy poses while keeping the environment calm, warm and relaxed.

Adding parents is generally quite straightforward, as adults can follow posing directions and comfortably support their newborn throughout the photographs.

Sibling Photos Are Completely Different

Once young brothers and sisters join the session, everything changes.

Children naturally have shorter attention spans, they may feel excited, nervous or curious, and unlike adults, they can't always follow detailed posing instructions.

Creating beautiful sibling photographs isn't simply a matter of asking everyone to smile at the camera.

Every pose must be carefully planned to ensure your newborn is fully supported and completely safe while also capturing genuine interactions between siblings.

Sometimes we spend quite a bit of time helping little ones feel comfortable, encouraging natural smiles, taking breaks when needed, and photographing multiple combinations until we achieve images everyone will love.

This requires patience, experience and specialised newborn posing skills.

More Family Members Means More Variety

Package 3 includes sibling photographs as well as extended family combinations.

That means we'll capture a much wider range of images, including:

  • Newborn on their own

  • Baby with mum

  • Baby with dad

  • Baby with both parents

  • Baby with each sibling

  • All siblings together

  • The whole family

  • Additional family combinations where appropriate

Each combination takes additional time to pose, photograph and professionally edit afterwards.

The result is a much larger and more varied gallery, but it also means considerably more work both during your session and behind the scenes.

Why I Introduced Package 2

For many years, what is now Package 3 was actually my only newborn photography package.

Over time, I realised that not every family wanted sibling photographs.

Some families are welcoming their first baby, while others simply wanted beautiful portraits of their newborn with mum and dad—or even just their baby on their own.

Rather than asking those families to pay for a larger package they didn't need, I decided to introduce Package 2.

This gives parents a more affordable option while still receiving the same high-quality newborn photography experience.

Choosing the Right Package

If you're expecting your first baby or would love portraits featuring just your newborn with mum and dad, Package 2 is a wonderful choice.

If you'd like to include brothers, sisters or additional family members, Package 3 provides the extra time, planning and expertise needed to create those special family memories safely and beautifully.

Both packages receive the same care, attention to detail and professional editing. The difference in price simply reflects the additional time, posing, experience and work involved in photographing a newborn with siblings and larger family groups.

Investing in Memories That Last

Every family is unique, and that's why I wanted to offer options that suit different needs.

Whether you choose a newborn-only session or a full family experience, my goal is always the same—to create timeless photographs that you'll treasure for years to come.

If you're unsure which package is right for your family, I'm always happy to help you choose the option that best suits your needs.

I look forward to welcoming you and your little one to my Bunbury studio and capturing this incredibly special chapter of your family's story.
