One of the questions I get asked a lot in Bunbury is: "We missed the newborn stage — is it too late to get photos done?" The answer is always no! Some of my favourite sessions have been with babies well past the "newborn" window, and honestly, the results are often just as good — sometimes better.

Why Older Babies Photograph So Well

Newborn sessions are beautiful, but they rely on sleepy poses and a very narrow window (usually the first couple of weeks). Once a baby is a few months old, a whole new kind of magic happens:

• Real facial expressions. Newborns don't smile on cue — older babies do. Genuine grins, curious looks, and big personality come through so much more.
• Eye contact and connection. By 3-4 months, babies are locking eyes with mum, dad, and grandparents, which makes for genuinely emotional family photos.
• Less setup, less stress. No need for careful posing or waiting for a baby to settle — a relaxed family session captures things as they naturally happen.
• Often more affordable. Without the specialised newborn posing and props, these sessions can cost less than a traditional newborn shoot, for results that are just as treasured.
